Mortal Kombat 2021 is a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise of the same name.

The film is directed by Simon McQuoid and stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

The film was released in theaters on April 23, 2021, and was a critical and commercial success.

The movie centers on Cole Young (Tan), a retired MMA fighter who is selected to join a group of champions in a crucial conflict to stop the Outworld from conquering Earth.

To harness his newfound abilities and destroy the forces of Outworld, Cole must train with Sonya Blade (McNamee), Jax Briggs (Brooks), Liu Kang (Lin), and Kung Lao (Max Huang).

The action scenes, fidelity to the source material, and acting in the movie have all received high praise. The movie has, however, also drawn flak for its bloody violence.
