Hurricane Hilary is a Category 4 hurricane that is presently heading toward Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. It is the first storm of its type to form in the region in the month of August.

Hilary was formed on August 15, 2023, in the Pacific Ocean. It quickly intensified, upgrading to Category 4 status on August 17. This is what makes it different from others.

Hilary is expected to make landfall in Baja California on the 19th of August. It is then expected to weaken as it proceeds inland, but could still bring heavy rain and flooding to the southwestern United States.
